About the Recipe
This cookie has been a family favorite for over 12 years. I have no doubt that it will continue to be a fall baking request for years to come. Truly gives that warm holiday taste and goes great with a hot coffee or cold glass of milk.
Ingredients
1 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup molasses
1 large egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
white granulated sugar for decoration
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Step 2
Mix together brown sugar, oil, molasses, and egg in a large bowl. TIP: measure oil first in liquid measuring cup and then molasses will easily pour out after.
Step 3
Combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; stir into the molasses mixture.
Step 4
Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls then place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Top each ball with a generous amount of white sugar.
Step 5
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until center is firm. Cool on wire racks.
